What a great tragedy that hundreds even thousands of elephants are illegally poached in Africa every year for the criminal ivory trade. So much so in fact, that the more elephants with average size to large tusks that are poached, most are born with only short stumpy ones, or no tusks at all. It is believed that only 10-20 big tusker African and Asian elephants are found in the world today due to the demand for their tusks as ornaments or traditional medicine. Is it really worth it? It very much doubt it. We must do everything we can through donations to wildlife conservation charities such as Tusk Trust, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and others, to support the efforts of rangers in protecting these magnificent creatures that everyone wants to see on safari as well as their television screen at home. And by going on Safari, the money you pay goes towards the protection of the mighty elephant. Hope you feel inspired.
