Quack quack

The female mallard is specifically camouflaged for the purpose of concealing the presence of a nest whilst she sits in her eggs. In contrast, the male is much brighter with a rich green head, yellow beak, grey feathers and brown breast with orange feet.  Females typically lay 10 - 12 pale green eggs and these ducks can be seen in a variety of habitats such as large lakes, ponds, rivers, marshes and urban areas.
