Age and wisdom

While males come and go at two to three year intervals, lionesses as the core of the pride remain in the territory they were born into. It's their responsibility to do the majority of hunting which sometimes results in injuries. Here, a Marsh Pride lioness looks out across her territory just days after an injury from a buffalo. Buffalo are capable of killing lions with one swipe of their horns, so she is fortunate to have survived such an injury which could have been so much worse for her. What is she thinking here as she observes her domain? Past memories? Invading males on the horizon? Or food? Could be all or any of them?
